Abstract Patients with positive Coxsackie‐B cultures but without diagnosed myocarditis were subjected to a cardiologic follow‐up examination after 2–11 years. At the time of follow‐up, the men were at the most 35 years of age and the women were 45 years or less. The possibility of cardiomyopathy was established in two of the 53 cases studied.
E. Orinius (1968) studied this question. Coxsackie-B infection without diagnosed myocarditis resulted in possible cardiomyopathy in 2 of 53 patients evaluated after 2 to 11 years.
