The relative strengths of the transitions 1s22s22p2 - and Is22s22p3 4S3/2-2D2/2 in N I are computed, including spin-spin interaction. The radial integral which determines the influence of spin- spin coupling on the transition probability was calculated by numerical integration with wave functions found by interpolation from those of B, C, 0, F, and Ne derived from the self-consistent field. The theoretical value of the ratio of the intensities in Ni for 4S2/2-2D212 and 4S3/i-2D2/i is 0.83.
