Does a high CHADS2 score predict the presence of cerebral artery atherosclerosis in patients with stroke and nonvalvular atrial fibrillation?
Patients with stroke with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation
High CHADS2 score
Presence, frequency, and burden of concomitant cerebral artery atherosclerosissurrogate
High CHADS2 scores in patients with stroke and nonvalvular atrial fibrillation are associated with an increased frequency and burden of cerebral atherosclerosis.
The CHADS(2) score can predict the presence of concomitant cerebral artery atherosclerosis. Increased risk of stroke in patients with high CHADS(2) scores may be partly explained by increased frequency and burden of cerebral atherosclerosis.
