This paper compares the main data findings of a survey among Dutch journalists with results from recent projects in more or less similar countries: Germany, Great Britain, Australia, and the United States. The paper critically discusses existing published cross-national research. The cross-national comparison is used as a means to describe and interpret a national news culture of journalists using The Netherlands as a case study.
