It is always gratifying to review a well-organized, concise, and clearly written book; this is precisely what Dr Schamroth has produced in the second edition of his comprehensive, abundantly illustrated text dealing with the electrocardiography of coronary disease. The book is divided into two parts, which are separately indexed. Part 1 is the text itself, consisting of four sections covering basic principles, myocardial infarction, coronary insufficiency, and abnormal rhythms associated with acute myocardial infarction. All chapters in part 1, with the exception of those in the section on basic principles, include correlative essays that are brief dissertations on the differential diagnosis of aspects of the subject presented in that chapter. The second part of the book consists of electrocardiograms illustrating specific aspects of topics covered in the text. Each electrocardiogram is accompanied by a description of its salient features.
