Functional verification of new power-electronic converters and their control requires final verification at a test bench. For this suitable machine-sets have to be available. Changing type or rating of the machine requires high effort. Fast and cost-effective prototype development and testing and production-site quality monitoring becomes possible by replacing the machine-set with a suitably designed and controlled converter. Changing type and parameters of the machine is then mainly equivalent to changing the parameters of converter control. This paper describes concept and realization of such a machine emulator for high-power high-frequency application and proves it by measurements.
