Giycopyrrolate as a Substitute for Atropine in Reversal of Curarization in Pediatric Cardiac Patients

Electrocardiographic findings during curarization reversal with a glycopyrrolate-neostigmine mixture were compared to those with an atropine-neostigmine mixture in pediatric patients with congenital cardiac disease. Both giycopyrrolate and atropine afforded equal protection against the bradycardiac effects of neostigmine but the incidence of arrhythmias was greater with giycopyrrolate. Giycopyrrolate does not seem safer than atropine for such procedures.
