Physiological target tissues for various steroids generally show a much higher concentration of the appropriate cytoplasmic receptor than do non target tissues. Previously the specific binding of aldosterone has been demonstrated in a. number of tissues—including liver—which are not customarily considered mineralocorticoid target tissues. In the present paper the binding of tritiated aldosterone in liver cytosol from adrenalectomized rats is shown to be exclusively to sites having the affinity characteristics of glucocorticoid receptors.
