IN RECENT years there has been a considerable advance in the quantity and quality of research into various aspects of tourism in the United Kingdom. Encour-agement by the central authorities has given an im-petus to the useful work already being carried out by many County Councils. Joint work by the Tourist Boards and some County Councils has produced, among other things, useful estimates of total tourist regional expenditure figures. The value of these figures is, however, much reduced by the lack of suit-able tourist regional multipliers. It is the object of this paper to formulate a tourist regional multiplier model and to test it in a particular region. Tourist national multipliers are a poor guide to regional coefficients.
