What factors are related to increased carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) in adolescents and young adults with IDDM?
Adolescents and young adults with IDDM (Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus)
Carotid intima-media thickness (IMT)surrogate
Carotid intima-media thickness, an index of atherosclerosis, is increased early in adolescents with IDDM and correlates with urinary albumin, endothelin-1, blood pressure, and free cortisol.
IMT, an index of atherosclerosis (macroangiopathy), is increased in IDDM subjects quite early (already in adolescence), and it is positively related to urinary albumin, UET1, blood pressure, and UFC.
