Efficient Vertical Seismic Profiling using Fiber-Optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing and Real-Time Processing

Recent developments in fiber-optic sensing present the opportunity to use a fiber-optic cable as a distributed array of vibration or acoustic sensors, referred to as Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS). Using DAS for VSP surveys presents many new challenges and opportunities. We present methods to enhance data quality for VSP surveys by using real-time optimization along with fiber-optic distributed acoustic sensing.
