Torsion of the Testis and its Appendages During Childhood

A painful testicular swelling accompanied by local signs and general symptoms constitutes a clinical picture in which the correct diagnosis is not always readily apparent. Proper management depends upon a knowledge of the possible causes, their relative likelihood and where possible their differen-tiation. The aim of this report is to present the subjects as they occur in paediatric practice. The results of a prospective study of 19 children who presented with torsion of the testis or its appendages are recorded in detail.
