Virtual high schools offer students around the world an alternative way to learn and interact with each other and with teachers. A study at South Vermillion High School in Clinton, Ind., examined whether a school in the rural Midwest could benefit from online instruction. Student and parent reactions to a Web-based learning environment differed. This article raises questions about how to support a virtual class at the high school level.
