The Gibbs-Thomson equation thermodynamically describes the melting point depression due to the curvature of the interface. Usually this equation is expressed as a 1st-order expansion with respect to the curvature. We carry out the expansion up to 2nd-order and apply it to calculate the melting point depression of an ice crystallite in water.
