Abstract The literature on the test-retest reliability of the WAIS is reviewed. Included are eleven studies which reported the test-retest reliability or stability of FSIQ, VIQ, and PIO, and six studies which reported the test-retest stability of the 11 individual subtests. The findings are discussed in relation to their implications for evaluating test-retest changes found in the individual patient by clinical or forensic psychologists who are being asked to evaluate such patients in increasing numbers.
