A sequential procedure for testing composite hypotheses is presented and its large sample properties are derived. The relationships between this method and other large sample tests, both fixed-sample and sequential, are discussed. The procedure is applied to the sequential analysis of 2 × 2 contingency tables, and the predictions of the theory are compared with the results of computer simulations
