The most frequently used method is the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and reproducibly reactive tests done with this method are highly specific for antibody to the virus (1). In high-risk populations, such as homosexual men, the human immunodeficiency virus has been isolated from a single blood specimen in 67% to 95% of persons with a positive test for antibody (1, 2)....References1. .
