Satellite imagery provided by the NOAA 2 satellite was used to make observations of the motions of sea ice near the Ross Sea off Antarctica. The sea ice studied displayed a highly variable motion when it was viewed over short time intervals. The generalized flow suggested a westward movement near shore as an effect of the antarctic polar current.
