A description is presented of the results of measurements which were undertaken to determine the degree of similarity between the distribution of v sin i for the early B-type stars and the corresponding values for other groups of main-sequence stars of spectral types O-F0. The distribution of rotational velocities is discussed. It is found that the distribution of v sin i is essentially similar all along the main sequence from spectral types O to A5. Implications of the observed distribution of v sin i are considered. The similarity of these distributions for various spectral groups is found to suggest that the same physics is involved in determining the rotational velocity distribution of all early-type stars, independent of their mass. Mechanisms proposed to account for the slowly rotating stars are examined, and an investigation is conducted regarding the origin of rotational angular momentum.
