Today we are witnesses to and participants in the dynamically progressing disintegration of a once-unified educational space into the "educational spaces" of the sovereign states. Exactly how far the national systems of education will diverge in different directions is something that is hard to guess, but it is obvious that every one of them will differ substantially from the old all-union model. At the same time, however, there is a tendency that is common to all the national systems of education that are taking shape and that is becoming increasingly clear: the tendency toward their integration into the world market of education—in particular the European market.
