Abstract The reaction of carbon dioxide with α-ethynyl tertiary alcohols has been catalyzed by cobaltocene to give α-methylene cyclic carbonates in good yields. α-Ethynyl primary or secondary alcohols give noncyclic alkyl carbonates in fair yields.
