Atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias as well as various degrees of heart block are frequent manifestations of cardiac amyloidosis (1-12). Examinations of the cardiac conduction system seldom have been reported in amyloidosis, however, and may be negative (13, 14). Since amyloid commonly deposits in the coronary arteries (12, 15), functional disturbances in cardiac rhythm and conduction might be due to ischemia in the critical conduction centers secondary to amyloid in the arteries.
