The anatomy knowledge of surgical trainees: the trainer's view

Anatomy dissection and prosection have long been at the heart of surgical practice and the majority of surgeons questioned agreed that a solid knowledge of anatomy is essential for surgical training and practice. Over recent years there has been a gradual reduction in the undergraduate anatomy curricula accompanied by closures of anatomy departments and dissecting rooms.
