The Mclntire-led March for Victory, held in Washington, D.C., in 1970, in support of U.S. Victory in Vietnam, provided the data for constructing a model to detect the dynamic process of participation commitment: the source and date of initial awareness and the extent of information and opinion relaying. One interesting observation was that political ideology relative to the war in Vietnam, although a dominant theme in the march, played an insignificant role in participation commitment; previous behavior in similar activities was a far more relevant factor.
