Recent measurements(1) on the thermionic emission from a platinum surface during outgassing have brought to the attention of the writer an empirical relation between the thermionic constants for a metallic surface which was discovered by Richardson(2) for tungsten and platinum in 1915, but which has apparently been completely neglected in formulating the various theories of the emission process.
Lee A. DuBridge (Mon,) studied this question.
