The authors cover a wide range of conceptual and analytical issues related to the measurement of stock and flows of international migrants and problems concerning international comparability of migration data. They discuss the potentials and weaknesses of existing data collection systems including censuses population registers border statistics and residence and work permit systems and provide guidance on how to develop and disseminate statistics on international migration. book analyses the measurement of migrants remittances and problems associated with this as well as ways of gathering remittances data. Attention is also given to specially designed surveys for use in examining the determinants and consequences of international migration.
