The concept of leisure conveys varied meanings to people, some of which may include identifying the leisure event itself, the frequency of the activity, and its value to the participant. In addition, the perception of the leisure and work continuum has shifted over time, having been investigated by several disciplines. A substantial portion of the gerontological literature has been directed towards the relationship of leisure and aging, in particular, with life satisfaction of the older adult. The objective of this study is two-fold. One is to present a comprehensive literature review of the research on leisure and aging. The other is to assess the leisure performance and life satisfaction attitudes of a select population of well elderly. Both are offered to enhance the reader's understanding of leisure and its role in the life of an older adult.
