A method for measuring the series resistance of a solar cell recently proposed by Araujo and Sanchez 1 is compared with that proposed by Wolf and Rauschenbach 2. It is shown that the former method is accurate only for cells with very low R s and operating under high illumination conditions. The latter method is able to determine R s at any particular operating point of the I-V characteristic without a prior knowledge of the other parameters, provided these parameters are independent of illumination.
