A method of automatic pulse height weighting using the discrimination bias modulation is described to determine the radiation dose from the pulse distribution produced from a certain type of detector. The method is to modify the energy response of a detector, based on sampling the pulses of the radiation according to their heights through the time-gate consisting of the a.c. wave as a bias which simulates a suitable conversion function. An application of the method to a NaI scintillation counter is described, together with its circuit arrangements and the experimental results of the exposure measurement from several y-sources by using it. Possible application of the method is discussed in the field of radiation dosimetry, in connection with Hurst and Ritchie's generalized concept of radiation dosimetry.
