Does extended myectomy and reconstruction of the subvalvular mitral apparatus improve functional status and relieve outflow tract obstruction in patients with HOCM?
Patients with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy (HOCM)
Surgical correction with extended myectomy and reconstruction of the subvalvular mitral apparatus
Functional improvement and relief of outflow tract obstructionsurrogate
Extended myectomy with subvalvular mitral apparatus reconstruction is a safe and effective surgical strategy for relieving outflow tract obstruction in HOCM.
Extended myectomy and reconstruction of the subvalvular mitral apparatus in HOCM result in excellent functional improvement with relief of outflow tract obstruction. The technique can be performed safely despite its more aggressive surgical nature and allows an individualized strategy depending on the patient's extent and distribution of left ventricular hypertrophy.
