In the last decade, there has been a growing interest in the immunological aspect of these diseases, which stems from the widespread use of electrophoretic techniques and increasing emphasis on the natural history and complications of these diseases. Such studies have prompted speculation that there may be significant differences in the way the immune system is affected by the diseases included in the categories of lymphoma and leukemia.
