Research over the last decade has developed a wide application of 3D models. Much of this work, however, is not related to quality evaluation of 3D color models. This paper presents a novel subjective quality evaluation model that can be used to compute the difference between an original 3D color model and the other processed one. Our model jointly takes into account human visual perception of color and shape in 3D color models. As observed from the results of color and shape stimulations, our model can efficiently test the evaluation outcomes and realize a subjective metric of 3D color models. Experimental results show that our proposed evaluation model gives a reasonable correspondence with the human perception, and supports our relationship formulation between the changes in shape and color for the similarity measurements of 3D color models.
