The response function (K, ) of nickel has been calculated over a wide range of temperatures on the basis of a tight-binding band structure with allowance for electron-electron interactions. Spin-wave broadening and renormalization, the steady development of through T₂ away from the singularity at (0, 0), and the occurrence of "vestigial" spin waves above T₂ are all well illustrated. With a Hubbard-Gutzwiller-Kanamori I₄₅₅0. 6 eV atom^-1 there is quite good absolute agreement with experiment, this agreement being improved if a suitably K-dependent I₄₅₅ (K) be introduced.
