Ultrastructural features and degenerative changes in myocytes
The ultrastructural features of human cardiac hypertrophy are described in detail, with emphasis on the changes that develop in the late stages of hypertrophy. Studies of myocardium from 75 patients with congenital heart disease associated with right ventricular pressure overload show that degenerative changes develop in myocytes as the patients become older. The functional significance of these changes is discussed.

V J Ferrans (Sat,) conducted a observational in Congenital heart disease with right ventricular pressure overload (n=75). Ultrastructural studies of myocardium from 75 patients with congenital heart disease and right ventricular pressure overload showed that degenerative changes develop in myocytes with increasing age.
