More order, more tolerance: PtSn intermetallic and alloy nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by the co-reduction of Pt(acac)2 (acac=acetylacetonate) and SnCl4. The intermetallic NPs can convert to email protected core–shell NPs after potential cycling in CO-saturated H2SO4 solution. Electrochemical studies demonstrated the core–shell and intermetallic electrocatalysts had substantially higher CO tolerance than PtSn alloy, PtRu alloy, and monometallic Pt.
