It is obviously a work of love, painstakingly put together, and based on many years of unparalleled experience. The discussions, although remarkably concise, are authoritative and comprehensive expositions of nomenclature, clinical aspects, pathogenesis, cytology, and histology of neoplastic disorders of the bone marrow and lymphoid organs. The illustrations (426 black and white and 43 in color), photographs of patients and gross specimen, and photomicrographs of blood and bone marrow smears and tissue sections, offer a brilliant view of the nearly infinite variations of hemic neoplasia. My only reservation has to do with the unduly long gestation period of this work, seven years from submission to publication. Perhaps a supplement updating certain areas is in order.
