Aromatic CH silylation of arenes by 1, 2-di-tert-butyl-1, 1, 2, 2-tetrafluorodisilane is efficiently catalyzed by iridium (I) complexes generated from Ir (OMe) (cod) 2 (cod=cyclooctadiene) and 4, 4′-di-tert-butyl-2, 2′-bipyridine (dtbpy; see scheme) and provides the corresponding aryl fluorosilanes in excellent yields.
