The diffusion coefficient of oxygen in α‐titanium was measured in the range 460°–700°C, by means of nuclear microanalysis from the reaction . A new application of this method allows the determination of a complete diffusion profile, along about 2 μm, from a single proton spectrum. The results provide a value of diffusion coefficient consistent with a bulk diffusion process, with an activation energy of 48 kcal/mol, over the temperature range from 200° to 950°C.
