The temperature dependence from 28 to 290°C of the excited-state absorption cross section₂₀ (E) in the gain wavelength region of alexandrite has been determined from the temperature dependence of the single pass gain (SPG) and of the fluorescence. ₂₀ (E) and the emission cross section increase with temperature at approximately the same rate.
