A radio frequency identification (RFID) system is a wireless communication system in which the radio link between the base station and the transponders are furnished by the modulated backscattered waves. The present paper is intended to provide a brief description of various subsystems of the RFID. The various applications of RFID are discussed. Sample results on read/write range for a transponder designed at 2.45 GHz are also discussed.
