An apparently benign form of multifocal connective tissue ossification in a mother and her daughter is reported. Both patients presented with cutaneous lesions but subsequent radiological examination revealed the more widespread nature of the disorder. A possible relationship of the process in our patients to pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism and fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is suggested. The terminology and classification of cutaneous ossification is discussed.
