From an initial refletion on the permanences and transformances in the representations of “science” and “religion” in the kardecist spiritism, as well as its role in the formation of a strong religious identity, it is affirmed that there is an afinity between this problem and the methodological difficulties and linguistic traps in the representation of spiritism.
