Refugees, Recent Migrants and Employment: Challenging Barriers and Exploring Pathways

This is an important book. Set against the complex policies that have been adopted by a number of developed industrialized countries – and which are continually revised and updated – to address asylum and migration, it seeks to provide an in-depth and empirically-based analysis of the barriers experienced by refugees and recently arrived migrants in accessing employment commensurate with their qualifications, skills and experience, and how such barriers might be overcome. This edited volume comprises fourteen chapters, with an Introduction by the editor. The last chapter, also drafted by the editor, is effectively a conclusion to the book discussing the principal themes raised in the preceding chapters. The book is divided into three parts.
