A new concept has emerged that is changing the way the business world operates. Many research and development (R&D) problems in a particular company are being solved by people not employed by that company, through a process called “crowdsourcing.” The term crowdsourcing was coined by Jeff Howe, a journalist for Wired magazine, and is defined as utilizing the public for a task that may or may not include payment.
