This paper gives an overview of some of the phenomena which will occur in a power system with a large amount of wind production. Some of the problems occur due to the induction generators used in the windmills. Other problems occur due to the stochastic nature of the wind. The paper concentrates on the problems occurring in the eastern Danish power system up to year 2008, where three off-shore wind farms each of 150 MW will be connected to the system. To integrate such a large amount of production from windmills creates a technical challenge, which affects the basic principles for both planning and operation of the system.
