A new book by Sir Nevill Mott, even though a small one, can be expected to provide a significant contribution to solid state physics. This one highlights the extension, in recent years, of non-crystalline electronic solid state theory to cover topics such as amorphous metals and semiconductors, impurity bands in semiconductors and silicon dioxide, where electron-electron and polaron interactions are important.
