Thermodynamics means quite different things to the philosopher, the applied mathematician, the physicist, the physical chemist and the heat engineer. This book is written primarily for the physicist and the philosopher, it is of small direct interest to the applied mathematician and the physical chemist as it hardly ever mentions actual numbers, and even less to the engineer as neither the word " efficiency " nor " engine " occur in the index at all.
