Concern regarding marketing educator training has increased dramatically in the last several years as parents, alumni, and state legislatures have stepped up calls for improved teaching. This article reports the results of a study of marketing educator training within U.S.-based marketing doctoral programs. Doctoral candidates were asked to report on their level of formal educator training regarding teaching techniques, level of teaching responsibility, and methods of evaluation during their program. Results indicate that many Universities have not fully integrated, to any substantive degree, educator training into doctoral student academic programs. Suggestions for integrating educator training into doctoral marketing curriculum are offered.
