This paper presents a study of a Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) based on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator. The effectiveness of the WECS can be greatly improved by proposing a comparison of different MPPT methods based on PI, IP and fuzzy logic controllers. The control strategy can be divided into three parts: the DC motor is controlled in intent to emulate the wind turbine and delivering a wind profile such as the real one; an effective control technique for the generator side converter, based on pulse width modulation (PWM), has been developed to permanently generate the maximum power under different wind. The results of various simulations have shown the dynamic performances and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
