Authors describe an unique technical solution of catenary with block-polispast compensators for tension remote monitoring organization they propose. The diagnostic device based on strain gauge included in the system of overhead line health monitoring is described. Also results of experiments with the device at a real monitoring object are given. The diagnostic device has an independent power supply based on solar batteries. Diagnostic data are transmitted using radio channel with frequency of 868.7 MHz to the diagnostic data hub. The offered technical solution of catenary tension monitoring is used on the St. Petersburg - Moscow speedy line of the Russian rail roads.
